Love The Way You Lie - Parody

Love The Way You Lie
(MNM featuring Burn Ward)

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well, that's alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

Of competence, scholarship and your new neighbor with a funny accent

When we vote for candidates to form a government, we really should be looking at their capability in leading the nation, degree of diligence in discharging their official duties, prudence with tax payers’ money, ability to form and implement sensible policies to bring the nation forward.

And it really does not have much to do with some dubious asshole of a dubious person or some dodgy black and white Thai pornography or colour-blindness of issue-focused individuals.

Which bring me to the 2 current issues: JPA scholarship and “purification” of illegal foreign workers.

Comprehensive exercise soon to legalise and send illegal immigrants home

SEREMBAN: A large-scale legalisation and amnesty exercise is expected to be held next month to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in Malaysia, estimated at about two million.

The programme, which will take three weeks, will be codenamed “6P” pendaftaran (registration), pemutihan (legalisation), pengampunan (amnesty), pemantauan (supervision), penguatkuasaan (enforcement) and pengusiran (deportation).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 immediate striking point is that capable and bona-fide Malaysians are denied what they are qualified for and entitled to, since their tax paying family members would have paid into the scholarship fund; contrast with those foreigners who broke our country's laws, and yet get rewarded with amnesty for illegal entry and exemption from persecution, provided it is paid for.

What kind of encouragement are we sending out to the potential illegal immigrants as well as those who smuggled and employed them?

Would the Pendatang-focused right wingers, who screamed for scholarships to be denied to rightful Malaysians, would also scream against such privileges awarded to bona fide Pendatangs diluting the percentages of their pool?

If they can come up with gems like this:

-----------------------------------------------------------
http://www.malaysia-today.net/mtcolumns/newscommentaries/40881-stop-scholarships-to-students-from-vernacular-schools

Free Malaysia Today) - Malay rights group, Perkasa has suggested that the government limit its Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships ‘strictly’ to non-Malay students who have completed their education ‘exclusively in national school’s.

In making this call Perkasa secretary general, Syed Hassan Syed Ali said it would be unfair to award scholarships to students whose parents have no faith in the national education system.
----------------------------------------------------------

Bodoh, they pay taxes too and probably more than you ever do.

Go on, what are you going to say about that?

According to “my brother did not do it/I don’t know my brother very well” minister, a fee of RM400 (RM300 for a penalty and RM100 for processing fee) is collectable from an estimated 2,000,000 illegal foreign workers.

He failed to explain 1) the cause for gross incompetence of Malaysian authorities in letting in so many illegal workers; and 2) how would the additional RM800 million were to be used.

How can Malaysians benefit from this additional revenue? What real benefit these additional revenue means for Malaysians, really……

On one hand,

Aim Of Subsidy Rationalisation Is To Improve People's Living Standard, Says PM

KUALA LUMPUR – The government’s subsidy rationalisation is not a measure to eliminate subsidies but to provide reasonable amounts of subsidy to the eligible and needy target groups and sectors, Najib Tun Razak said on Saturday.

Nice huh?

-------------------------------------------------------------

The annual JPA scholarship debacle is costing the nation current dollars and talent as well as future well-being and prospect. God knows how many capable doctors, scientists, engineers and other professionals has the nation lost over the decades, simply due to positively incompetent and possibly racist little napoleons who I find tempting to question their own academic qualification as well as their sanity to judge and award in the first place.

In my SPM batch of a very long time ago, the 3 all A-s students did not get even a reject letter from JPA. 1 of the top scorer was the male head perfect cum leader of police cadet who went onto to be awarded with Lee Kuan Yew’s Asean scholarship and last I know, is a surgeon in U.S. while the female head perfect went on to score all As in her STPM examinations and obtained a scholarship from a local bank and have a career in banking.

I have yet to see JPA coming out with a rebuttal that they are race-base in judgment and award or prove their credentials to decide the academic future and livelihood prospect of young hopeful Malaysians who are probably academically and intellectually superior than them.

JPA department overseeing scholarship is little like 19th century Africa. Its details are mysterious to the general public although we know it is there; populated by not well known tribes whose logic and ways of life are unfamiliar to the general civil society. It promises untold riches and yet getting to the reward, depends on luck, adventure but no certainty of what are standard required criteria.

The question is, how hard is it for JPA to publish the criteria and number of places available for each course before the announcement of examination results; as well as the names and track records of both successful and unsuccessful applicants to be accountable to the public and applicants specifically?

If Americans can put a man on the moon and Badawi can put a good looking tourist to space so why can’t the JPA office put up an annual listing when all the relevant data is fed to them by the applicants?

A fundamental question is, why studying overseas is so much sought after by our best and brightest? Do we see top scoring Australians, Britons, Yankies, Singaporeans crying their eyeballs out because they can’t get a scholarship to study in 1Malaysia?

Why can’t we make the ringgit stronger to improve Malaysians’ purchase power parity by stopping outflow of ringgit by making studying abroad less attractive?

Is Malaysia such a lousy place for living, studying and learning that our young, energetic and ambitious can’t wait to escape from?

We have unique students who do not like to be too competitive, I wonder how would this make our education institution move up the world rankings.

--------------------------------------------------------------

http://blog.limkitsiang.com/2010/01/30/khalid-%E2%80%93-hands-off-respect-and-uphold-university-of-malaya-vice-chancellor-ghauth-jasmon%E2%80%99s-decision-on-moratorium-and-suspension-of-campus-polls/

The campus e-voting system is most unsatisfactory and even undemocratic as the students are not given the chance to observe the whole voting process and the e-counting of votes cannot be done.

……, students need to log in into the voting system using their matrix number and this will cause the worried amongst the students to vote some particular candidates.

…… condemn the entering of FRU into UKM and the arrest of two students who took part in the student demonstration; and the disqualification by the UPM administration of the winning status of 7 student representatives which is ridiculous and unacceptable, just because they had made some campaign statements in Facebook.

….. once again prove that they are not mature or professional in the management of the public universities to restore academic freedom and excellence so that they can become top-ranking universities recognized worldwide as leading institutions of higher learning.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Is Malaysia a place where employment opportunity and career prospect are not good enough that young people with ambition feels that they need to go abroad and study, so that they can get into countries where their prospect of earning a decent living and fulfilling their potential is so much better?

The need and gimmick in establishing Talent Corp to entice, plead and beg while Singaporeans resented the high inflow of non-Singaporean professionals probably give an answer the above question.

Are Malaysians still trapped by colonial mentality where everything is better on the other side?

How come after more than 50 years of Independence, Malaysia has not achieved a semblance of the economic and social development of its former colonial masters so that Malaysians feel proud and happy to get educated and find a living within its own country?

So what the hell are we paying our taxes for? What kind of competence are we getting from the externally elected political coalition to run the country?

My vote is cast. Have yours?

Adakah DAP anti-Melayu? Ulasan karyaan Wan Hamidi Hamid

Saya membeli buku ini in MPH Wangsa Maju, harganya RM15 sahaja.

Halaman facebook "Roketkini"

Fitnah # 1: DAP parti komunis?

Hakikatnya,

m.s. 94 “Semenjak pelaksanaan Dasar Ekonomi Baru hingga tahun 1990-an Pulau Pinang telah dibekalkan dengan infrastruktur pembangunan khusus untuk Melayu melalui Yayasan Bumiputera Pulau Pinang, Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Pulau Pinang dan Koperasi Gabungan Negeri serta bantuan dana kepada …Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Pualu Pinang….”

m.s. 95 “..UMNO mempunyai lebih 50 tahun untuk membantu menyelesaikan masalah…namun mengikut kajian UMNO Pulau Pinang sendiri pada awal tahun-tahun 2000-an, walaupun ekonomu negeri berkembang, kedudukan orang Melayu dikatakan masih berada di takuk lama…”

Keadaan perniagaan untuk kontraktor-kontraktor Melayu bertambah baik setelah DAP mengambilalih kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang.

m.s. 97 “…Guan Eng mendedahkan fakta bahawa kontraktor mendapat 100% tender projek Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran, dan 98% projek Jabatan Kerja Raya …. Kontraktor bukan Melayu … hanya mendapat kontrak…2% sahaja…

http://lokesiewfook.blogspot.com/2009/01/bantuan-pendidikan.html

Fitnah # 3 DAP anti-Islam?

The Worst Blog on the Planet

One of the most trashy blogs around- The Unspinners. The bloggers of this blog purport to 'dedicate this blog to unravel spins and lies. Mature, rational, and civil comments encouraged...'. However, their blog postings have no substance of any intellectual sort and is totally the opposite of their namesake- spinning lies, racist remarks and crap. I have never seen blogs written with such a high level of stupidity. Of late this blog have ramped up several notches in the racism meter. Their post called Chauvanist Chinese discriminate other Malaysians and my response is highlighted in blue below.

Above: Racist pic appearing on The Unspinnersarticle. No difference from Nazism.

Above: Hail UMNO, Hail Hitler.

• Most private organisations including TMI are dominated by the Chinese and/or their political agenda. Being a Malaysian- Chinese I don't have any political motives- I just want the constant harassing on race to stop on the UMNO papers and blogs.

• Chinese people have a tendency to assign negative stereotypes on other races (especially the Bumiputera races). This is sometimes true but not all Chinese are like this. For the record, I am not like this. However pro-UMNO bloggers such as The Unspinners are worse- their aim is to spread anarchy by playing the race card ie their ultimate aim is to start a race riot. They are Nazi.

• They exhibit cliquish, insular, secretive and calculating behaviour. 1) Calculating behavior is OK- it is the opposite of reckless spending and not minding your daily expenses. You can't correlate frugal living to a race, shitheads. No wonder household debt in Malaysia is on the rise. 2) Insular and secretive- UMNO is racist but yet accuse the race-victimized as racist.

• Chinese people favour fair-skinned people even though fair skin is disadvantageous in Malaysia’s sunny climate. This sentence doesn't make sense- but it is correct to say being fair-skinned is not really good in this UMNO racist-driven climate. What do make sense are the number of 'kulit cerah skin products catered to Malays. You can get the panduan for kulit cerah from http://www.femina-online.com/fashion_beauty/fashion_beauty_detail.asp?id=267&cid=1&views=334http://nadiadania.blogspot.com/2011/05/produk-review-nak-kulit-cerah-dan-anjal.html and http://www.silampuneon.com/2011/01/rahsia-kulit-cerah-macam-fatin-liyana.html.

• They admire China’s achievements, despite China’s oppressive regime. I'm indifferent on China's 'achievements' or 'regime'. I'm more concerned for Malaysia with its rising external debt and creeping inflation.

• Malaysian Chinese use the Chinese languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien etc.) to isolate their discussion from others while in their presence. Chinese is a major trade language, bigger than BM. Better start learning it, folks!

• The Chinese are not honest about failures of ethnic Chinese leaderships in Philippines and Thailand. I didn't go as far as Thailand or other places. I'm more concerned about this country's state of affairs and moron bloggers spreading lies amongst the people.

• Tokenism is rife in Chinese companies. Duh?!

• Chinese will use changing criteria to judge people of other ethnicities; one day it is academic merit, another day it may be “character.” Duh again.

• The Chinese favour their own kind over others, even when other kinds are of equal stature. 'Own kind' are the people who work hard and contribute to the economy. There's no equal stature per se, because the Malaysian Government has created an unequal 'Lords of the Earth' supreme race.

• Malays fear to voice out against Chinese for fear of repercussions especially with respect to their employment prospects in the private sector. What fear? They are doing it all the time.

• The Chinese still hold strongly to their ethnic heritage. That's because they don't have a Bumiputera 'heritage'. And 'Bumi' is a self-created, self-glorified policy.

• They diminish the achievement of other races, especially the Malays. I would advise you guys to get into the real spirit of competition before it is too late (ie country bankrupt).

• Harp on Bumiputera affirmative action even though Chinese people still continue to succeed at all levels of Malaysian life (even government). What's wrong with succeeding? I think you guys at The Unspinners are mixing with the wrong crowd (underachievers) for too long.

• Any Malay who has strong academic background is denounced as attaining it due to “Bumiputera privilege”, even though he graduated overseas with his own money. Duh who cares who pays for someone's education if he/ she deserves it.

• Use their overseas Chinese connection to gain unfair advantage, but pretend the advantage is minimal. All my family members are here, since few hundred years back. The only 'connection' is hard work, morons. The unfair advantage as mentioned above, is given by UMNO by crippling you guys with the Bumi tag. Talk about opium!

• The Chinese always make unfair comparisons of Malaysia with other non-Muslim, post-industrial countries. The comments are data-supported and serve as wake-up calls. That's the meaning of patriotism.

• Chinese people don’t recognise the special position Islam has in Malaysia. What's so special about if it known for spreading anarchy (internationally) and racism (locally)? There are many Muslims who are trying hard to change this perception but UMNO nor pro-UMNO bloggers are not one of them.

• Enjoy talking bad about Malaysia (even when working/living overseas) as if Malaysia is on the same level as Zimbabwe even though Malaysia is far from it. The World Bank is 'talking bad' (in a diplomatic way) about Malaysia. Go whack them, wankers.

• Highly critical of institutions that are Bumiputera-dominated (ie. government), but non-critical of institutions that are Chinese dominant (like gambling). 'Bumiputera' is Nazism ie creating the 'supreme' race by way of Government policy, how not to be highly critical of this.

• Show no desire to partake in patriotic activities (e.g. serve in army), but cry foul when other people point out their lack of patriotism. I am patriotic but certainly do not have aspirations joining Tentera nor PDRM nor MACC. I build my country economically by helping train the workforce and helping to keep jobs in the country. I contribute to taxes to ensure the Government has sustainable revenue to in turn contribute to the rakyat, Malays included. However I cry afoul when certain stupid people link patriotism to joining the army.

• Show lack of understanding about Islamic religion, but enjoy taking Quranic verses out of context to further their argument. I have not read the Quran because it is not widely available and I certainly do not know any Quran verses. However I do know the many from the supreme race of Malaysia who wants to own the word 'Allah' and is working hard to stop other religious books into Malaysia. These people are also working hard towards a racial riot in Malaysia as well. I certainly have a lack in understanding of this.

• If pushed to think “outside the box”, the Chinese would favour Western ideals above Islamic ideals. I definitely do not favor terrorism, inside or outside the box; nor this racism that's propagated by Muslims of this country. Racism is a form of blatant terrorism.

• The Chinese show lack of respect toward Malay leaders, but accord unnecessary respect to their Chinese community leaders, even though they hold no significant position in government. I don't really respect Chua Soi Lek nor any of his predecessors so fuck you guys for putting words in my mouth.

• Always speak about “brain drain” but still keep Malaysian passports. The Brain Drain report was released by The World Bank, morons. Keeping passports are the least of the problem, er... if you guys could understand what was written in the Report.

• Willing to spread disingenuous claim that Bumis have already achieved economic parity with the Chinese. It's a fact supported by data not a 'claim'.  Anyway, poverty knows no boundaries- may it be Malays, Chinese or Indians. I feel ashamed that any human being would admit themselves as having not made it yet despite 60 years of special policy.

• Use Indians who have achieved to further their claim that Indian community is ahead of the Malay community. Don't bring the Indians into this.

• Comments in support of Chinese chauvinistic agenda are allowed to be posted in TMI, while others are censored. For Sabah and Sarawak, replace Malay with Bumiputera or Pribumi. In some cases, their discrimination is more visible. Waste of time my time to comment on this.

The Chinese want control of political power. Will they get better or worse with power? What political power are you talking about. You have been drinking too much 'Kopi Jantan' and there's all the power to it. On the other hand UMNO is obsessed with 'power' and will sacrifice everyone to a race riot to remain in Government-control.

There it is- the rotten-tomato blog of the month.

MCA's threat, but is there a 2 to tango?

What ever the intention is, Make Chinese Anxious, Make Chinese Appreciate, Make Chinese Angry, Manipulate Chinese Awareness and Making Compassionate Appeal etc, Chua Soi Lek has issue his ultimatum to the Malaysian Chinese community.

Sunday May 1, 2011PM: It’s MCA’s message to Chinese voters

KUALA TERENGGANU: MCA has sent a message to the Chinese voters that they cannot support the Opposition and yet hope for a strong representation in the Government, said the Prime Minister.

“If the Chinese voters want to support the Opposition, they will sacrifice parties in the Government.

“If they want to have a more meaningful voice to represent their interest, then they must support the Barisan Nasional component parties,” said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at a press conference after launching the Pulau Duyong public housing project yesterday.

Najib said even though the matter of Cabinet representation would only be decided after the general election, MCA's message was clear.

The MCA presidential council had publicly backed its president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek's call for the party to give up government posts if the Chinese community did not support its candidates in the general election.

On the stand of MCA that it would continue to be in Barisan, the Prime Minister said the party remained in the coalition because it was a fair government.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CSL's message is:

1) despite Najib's constant sales pitch of 1Malaysia here there and everywhere, Malaysians of Chinese descent, contributors of the bulk of income, sales, service and, post GE-13, GST as well as customs and property taxes, will be maltreated and forgotten the moment MCA is booted out by voters despite unfair electoral practices favouring BNas a result of MCA's own unsatisfactory performance.

2) CSL is suggesting that 1Malaysia Prime Minister with his 1Malaysia administration is going to kill the goose that lay the golden egg, hinting that the administration of which his party currently participates in is racist, lunatic, immature and hypocrite as despite acknowledging Malaysian Chinese's contribution in front of visiting Wen Jiabao, will visit revenge and hell fury on citizens that exercise their constitutional democratic rights.

Najib praises Chinese role in economy, nation building
By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

April 28, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak praised Chinese Malaysians today for their role in the economy and nation-building amid racially-charged rhetoric by some Malay organisations that the community was out to take political power.

The prime minister also stressed that Malaysians from the different communities must work together to ensure further success in the push for a high-income nation. His remarks came at the tail-end of a two-day visit by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

“Thanks to their persistence, determination and sheer hard work… the contribution of the Chinese community to our economy is absolutely crucial to the country as a whole,” Najib (picture) said in a speech to the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCIM).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notice the Star's headline. Najib is saying "Chua Soi Lek said it, not me".

Even Najib is distancing himself from this last roll of dice. Gerakan tried it in 2008, SUPP tried it in 2011 and now MCA is revisiting this approach again.

Theoretically, in a democracy, voters hold the elected responsible for the trust and confidence vested in; but in Malaysia, the elected hold the voters responsible for maintaining feudal and beggar mentality - "pay up, be grateful and shut up!"

As president of MCA, Chua should know how to write the words "民主", i.e. DEMOCRACY. "民" means the people; "主" means the master. Chua, the 2 words mean "People are the Masters". Not "Master of People".

Barisan Nasional generally and Chua Soi Lek specially have to understand that urban voters cast their votes base on livelihood and national issues. Not skin colour.

MCA have not come to terms that they are voted out because they failed their own KPI. It is BN's own doing. Instead of looking and managing the nation on a holistic basis, everything under BN has to be cut up into respective racial boxes to manage separately - with the exception, of course, tax charging and collecting.

As long as issues are clouded by a layer of race perspective to complicate assessment, debate and evaluation, it is alright as long as the tax money keep coming in. Zero sum game has cost MCA dear in an UMNO dominated BN coalition.

BN have to get something into their head. Just because urban voters (note: I do not classify them as "Chinese Voters") voted against you, it does not mean urban voters do not follow your laws, do not pay you taxes and revolt against you.

Chua's timing is impeccable. He threaten and plea for support and gratitude when an independent party like the World Bank Economist Philip Schellekens has this to say:-

“(Lack of) Meritocracy and unequal access to scholarships are significant push factors and a deterrent to coming back,” said Schellekens. “Non-Bumiputeras are over-represented in the brain drain.”

"Expect the trend to continue,” he said."

In a possible scenario where MCA is booted out in the next GE, and UMNO dominated BN still holding onto federal government, how would the Malaysian Chinese fare?

Would BN then close down Chinese schools, practice wide spread and race specific persecution against tax paying and law abiding citizens? Najib have to confirm whether under his 1Malaysia stance, is this an approach that they are considering and planning for now?
Would this be part of the BN's GE manifesto - "Chinese vote BN otherwise item 1), 2) and 3) (or more)" will be forfeited..

If Chua mention this ultimatum and threat to the Chinese community, then he better jolly well include this in BN's GE manifesto - transparency, openness and honesty means a lot to the voters.

Malaysians should swamp Najib's fabled facebook with this question to agitate Rosmah more, unfortunately.

Najib earns wife’s ire with his nightly iPad jaunts

KUALA TERENGGANU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak updates his own tweets late at night, much to the chagrin of his wife.

Answering questions in a meeting with over 100 of his Facebook friends here, Najib said he often tweeted at night due to his busy schedule

Sorry 1st lady, we tax payers and citizens have a lot on our mind.

Self-contradictory racists examined

Racism is a funny old business in Malaysia. It is the most lucrative and effective political capital as it is easier to teach humans to hate than to love; to despise than to appreciate; and to discredit than to respect.

Especially when the target students are lesser developed in intellectual and reasoning ability.

Mind you this is one of the most difficult post I think I have to write. Explaining plain daylight and obvious stupidity is no mean task.

Perkasa to spearhead 1Melayu, 1Bumi against the Chinese

Perkasa has announced its spearheading of the “1Melayu, 1Bumi” movement, warning Malays that the Chinese were seeking ultimate political power.

In backing Utusan Malaysia’s call for a movement to “unite” all Malay parties, Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hassan Syed Ali said that Malay rights group did not have the “luxury of time” to wait for Malay political parties to initiate action.

“Perkasa will take on the responsibility of spearheading the “1Melayu, 1Bumi” movement, where it is obvious the Chinese, through the DAP are trying to take over the political power of the Malays.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flaw #1: Chinese are not aftering ultimate political power. Being a minority in Malaysia, there is no chance. Chinese are merely interested in making a comfortable living like dynamic economic conditions, good public amenities, safe environment and good standard of living.

Can Perkasa count properly? How many electoral seats in Malaysia are chinese majority? It is virtually impossible for Chinese to dominate voting pattern in Malaysia.

Why the siege mentality? The following are malays: Bank Negara governor, Ketua Polis Negara, armed forces chiefs, prime and deputy prime ministers, most of the menteri besars, pengerusi Bursa Saham Malaysia, securities commission chairman, director general of income tax, MACC director, speaker of parliament and state assemblies, head of Petronas, chairman of most local banks ..... heck even the president of Malaysia's Institute of Accountants is a malay.

After accusing non-malays for non-existence political conspiracy, and calling non-malays pendatangs, pariahs, sepet, kaki botol and what not, this is the peace sign handed across Najib's 1Malaysia:-

Perkasa tells non-Malays to view it positively

ALOR SETAR, April 25 — Perkasa today said the Chinese and Indian communities should view it in a positive light as it was acting in accordance with the law.

The right-wing Malay group added that there was no secret agenda behind its struggle to defend the rights of Malays.

Kedah Perkasa president Syed Osman Mansor said it fought for Malays because “the Malays have become disunited because of politics.”

He said, however, that Perkasa has improved Malay unity as seen in two large gatherings held in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, and Pasir Salak, Perak, this year.

Syed Osman was speaking ahead of Perkasa’s launch of the 1 Bumiputera campaign this Saturday in the northern state, where he expects 30,000 people to show up.

Perkasa had said it would champion Utusan Malaysia’s call for Malay parties and NGOs to form a 1 Melayu, 1 Bumi movement which the Umno-owned newspaper said was in response to growing Chinese political power due to DAP’s racial politics.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flaw #2:Why is it ok for Perkasa that Malays should be united under 1 political party while it is not ok for Perkasa that Chinese, according to them anyway, to be united under 1 political party?

There is something called double standard.

Perkasa, and the extreme right wingers can only see things from a racist angle. Everything is race, race and race....truly them are the amazing race!

By most accounts, Chinese in Malaysia and accross the world are practical and analytical. When they assess political parties, they do not look at superficial cosmetics but what the parties stand for. They support political parties who can bring upon justice and good governance so that they can make a living, enjoy life and feel secured materially and spiritually.

Chinese do not vote base on blind loyalty to skin colour. Ask MCA and they will confirm that having the same skin tone do not guarantee votes.

If UMNO adopts DAP's philosophy and DAP adopts UMNO's philosophy then I would gamble that chinese would vote for UMNO and not DAP. Whether BN like it or not, I do see it taking a leaf or 2 from the Buku Jingga which they oenly despise.

And as an indication of the level of reasoning capability of the political right wingers, they expect the targets of their threats, taunts, slander and libel to take them in a positive light. You can't expect the person you have bullied and insulted to feel friendly to you, right?

BN, as the administrator for the nation for more than half a century, is responsible for the national policies, institutions and implementation of such policies. They are directly responsible and accountable for the living conditions we tax payers are served with.

Judging by the spate of engineered social tension such as the cow head protest, church fire bombing, rise of the right wingers without checks, crime wave, poor intellect and inability to reason by a significant segment of the population, BN has failed the tax payers in bringing Malaysia to the promised land of harmony, physical as well as mental progress and prosperity depsite being blessed with huge natural resources, diversified and talented population, being in natural-disaster-free region.

It seems that the political front that relies too much and too long on racism to maintain power has nearly run its course. Continuing this colonial style political mentality with make Malaysia a laughing stock of the world and arrest its development significantly. Time to change. Either BN changes its reliance on racism as a political currency, or BN could well be changed.

Screwed up Government with screwed up policies

Sunday Star 24 April 2011. Dr Mahathir- '...Dr Mahathir said the Government must continue to provide more trade and business opportunities for the Chinese to regain their support..'

No need la. We all breath the same air. I am quite capable of making a living and contributing to the economy in terms of technical knowledge and taxes. On the other hand, I would greatly appreciate if the Government stops harassing me everyday indirectly for not being a Malay. That's why come any elections I will place the "X" anywhere but the BN logo.

The Malaysian Chinese will support any government which:

  1. Stop playing dirty in elections.
  2. Stop harassing the Christian public by letting them call God 'Allah'- the Muslims do not own the word 'Allah'.
  3. Stop harassing the Christian public by letting them buy/ import Bibles in BM freely.
  4. Stop harassing the Malaysian Chinese by stopping the daily racism in the media such as the daily crap from Utusan Malaysia or Rizdhuan Tee.
  5. Stop threatening the Malaysian Chinese if the BN poorly performs in by elections/ state elections/ general elections.
  6. Stop the race selection criteria in government scholarships
  7. Stop protecting the racist Malay papers by giving stupid excuses. There is no such thing as personal opinion when the opinion is made public.
  8. Stop DBKL from collecting protection money from non-Malay street hawkers, stop the close-one eye attitude on Malay hawkers without trading licenses.
  9. Stop the housing special discounts for Malays.
  10. Stop the propaganda that Malays are mundur

Anything that I missed out here?

Najib's 15%

'Professionals' are doctors, lawyers, accountants and other persons who undergo specialized training, usually belonging to an association which governs the quality of the vocation they practice. They are often regarded as highly educated and known as the 'white-collared' people. According to the Ministry of Human Resources (MHR) and Department of Statistics there were 67,310 job vacancies in the year 2010 with regards to the 'professional' category. If you think this number is not too big, think again. In 2004 there were only 5,187 registered vacancies. This makes it a 1300% increase from the years 2004 to 2010.

The trend is somewhat similar for technicians and associate professional vacancies registered with the MHR:

Kindly note assumptions number 1 to 3 at the bottom of this article whereby it is stated that private firms are not required to register unfilled positions with the MHR. It is correct to say this because private firms will normally recruit job positions on their own and not go through any government-linked agencies. Hence the actual number of unfilled positions in the Malaysian job market is higher than the MHR published statistics discussed here.

If we look at the snapshot of 2010 registered unfilled jobs, 'elementary occupations' hits the top spot. Such jobs are related to 'pekerjaan asas' such as maids, general workers, laborers and so on.
Zooming in on 'elementary occupations' the run chart below shows a steep climb from the years 2004 to 2010, a growth exceeding 13000% (10 times more that professionals) - caused by an acute shortage of workers in this category.

However the situation could have been worse. According to Tuan Haji Sabri, Deputy Director General of the Labor Department, in 2010, there were 785,000 Malaysians migrating out of the country and 1.8 million migrants into Malaysia. The 1.8 million migrants into Malaysia caught my eye because it appears that these migrants helped a little in easing the general worker shortage situation- the graph above could have been steeper. The breakdown of the 1.8 million in 2010 is as follows:

On the 785,000 Malaysians who migrated out of Malaysia, my take is that they are mostly professionals or semi-professionals who have gone out of this country. I do not have enough statistical evidence to show this (not my fault because I rely on published statistics only and I don't know why the Government has stopped releasing demographics like these since the year 2005) but being a professional myself who is in touch with the Asian region I am very confident that I am correct in saying that most the 785,000 migrants last year belonged to such a group and their reasons for migrating are push factors rather than pull factors. For me personally, it is a pain living in this country- the daily racism, the fear of political prosecution, the lack of religion freedom and so on.

Proponents of Ketuanan Melayu may ask me to leave this country on the next flight but they are ignorant of the fact that if hundreds of thousands of professionals like me leave Malaysia in this continuous trend within the next few years Vision2020 will never be achieved by 2020 and we will never ever be a developed country like we should be because of the lack of human capital.

I doubt Najib's 15% tax rate plus a couple of tax-free locally assembled cars through the Returning Experts Programme will do much to convince any professional who have made inroads in a foreign country to return home. For them the reasons of leaving the country is much more fundamental than lower tax rates and lower-priced cars (anyway, the pricing will never beat the prices and specs of cars sold in foreign countries). Najib needs to summon enough political will and balls to do the changes that needs to be done in Malaysia only then will people start coming back, tax breaks or not.

All sources of data are published figures from Bank Negara; Department of Labor, Department of Statistics and Ministry of Human Resources.

Assumptions on labor market statistics:
  1. As at end-period. Data is not comparable with past series. With effect from May 2005, the registration period during which jobseekers are deemed to be actively seeking jobs using the Electronic Labour Exchange was lengthened to six months (three months previously)
  2. The number of job vacancies could have been under-reported as it is not compulsory for firms to report vacancies to the Labour Department.
  3. Includes public administration and defence, compulsory social security, education, health and social work, other community, social and personal service activities, private household with employed person, ex-territorial organisation and bodies.

Responding to an anonymous commentator

I found it necessary to reply to this anonymous commentator to this post

Mr Lee, the fact that you study in a vernacular school explains a lot. First and foremost your loyalty and whatever fond memories you have for the school long time ago, has lock your minda . You therefore bear some "favoritism and conservativeness" in your outlook.
Social inept is one thing, real disdain for the other race is a very different matter altogether. I don't even want to repeat some of the comments I have heard from this group of people (same race) but vernacular school background.

Thanks Anom, for the pre-fix "Mr".

I can see that you are running a diagnosis on me and speaking from a position that I am a man with close mind. Loyalty and fond memories itself is not a bad thing. Being passionate and willing to preserve institution which has been good to you is fine too. What is life without passion and a sense of devotion?

When you wrote “has lock your minda” (the correct word you are seeking is probably “mindset”), I can guess your background. All I have to say is that I respect the proverb “biar putih anak, jangan putih adab”.

Living in a democratic country means the citizens can choose the way of life they wish to live the extend that they do not harm others.

“I don't even want to repeat some of the comments I have heard from this group of people (same race) but vernacular school background” – sorry I do not wish to dwell on some invisible bogeymen created just to cause anxiety or blind fear, like PAS alone can create an Islamic nation or all Chinese are here to take wealth away from Malays. Such sweeping and without-substance-scare statements hold no currency.

A language to me is a means of communication, not a means to "show off" or to make the other person feel uncomfortable. I switch with ease when speaking to different language groups of people, when I sense they are uncomfortable although I am "NO Expert" in their language. This I believe is very important. Most cases, people in the position to do so, do not do so but insist that we speak their language, although they can actually speak more than one language. Not pointing any fingers at any particular group but all groups of people. It takes two hands to clap.

When we learn new languages, the simple notion of “practice makes perfect” applies. Learning from errors is a good way to get things right. So if you can speak different language, good for you. We can’t be an expert in many languages, as long as we can be understood; I do not see that as a problem so why would someone be uncomfortable?

For example, if I am trying to speak Somali to my new neighbour and struggling, I am sure Abdou would just chuckle and correct me and we can laugh it off, I do not see any problem at all. If we are deterred by mere mild discomfort in the course of learning, we won’t progress hence I really admire the pioneers in surgery.

Social ineptness is very common in vernacular schools, I noted. Don’t you agree? Perhaps, they should teach this social ques in vernacular schools. They don't teach that in my school but I sensed it, because people often do that to me to ( they don't know I understand what they're talking and I took pains to learn the language) Silly people who assume that just because not of same race, so don't understand ?) Wake up.
You also accused MCA, MIC and UMNO of race based politics and these are the very parties that are encouraging vernacular schools remain intact. That says a lot about you. You are blinded by your good old days vernacular school bygone days. Those day we are more trusting of our fellow Malaysians of all races. Now, when someone starts speaking in a language we don't understand in our presence, we DO GET SUSPICIOUS. Won't you ? The FACT remains, vernacular schools do not " CREATE More Understanding and Awareness among all race"

“Social ineptness is very common in vernacular schools, I noted.” – now, how do you conclude this I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. It’s another sweeping statement, another baseless accusation. Do you have statistic to support this? Many Malaysians from vernacular schools have become graduates, businessmen, professionals, entertainers etc in Malaysia as well as outside Malaysia so calling them socially inept is an indefensible argument. I am sorry, but if you can come up which such a conclusion from your own “locked minda” then perhaps you should evaluation your own social ineptness or otherwise.

I do not accuse, but attribute race-base politics to UMNO, MCA and MIC: look at their membership criteria for confirmation. If these political parties do find tactically useful to manoeuvre in education field, it is only normal. So what's your point here?

Also on 1 hand you wrote that Malaysians trust each other more now and in the next sweeping statement, you wrote that the moment someone speaks language which you do not understand then immediately you get suspicious. So what's your point here too?

If the conversation is not about you, why bother? If there are a few rude people, walk off or tell them off? Why tear down a school, and a school system for that?

Yes, vernacular schools are more "academically inclined" but it doesn't mean national schools cannot be more academically inclined when all our children study under the same school system.
Sharing resources is the way to go.Vernacular schools can learn a lot from national schools too. Gangsters are very rampant in vernacular schools too. What do you think ?

Do you have statistic to back up your claim that gangsterism is rampant in vernacular schools only? As far as I can recall, my school and the other vernacular schools in my home town did not have such issue. If there is gangsterism around, it affects all schools and should be dealt with as a disciplinary matter together with police support. That is why tax payers fund the police force, the parents have to chip in and provide good upbringing to their children.

Closing down schools does not address gangsterism issue. A high percentage of SRP, SPM and STPM top scorers are from vernacular schools so what do you have to say about that?

So what “same school system” are you speaking about? What is your formula that can preserve Malaysia’s international competitiveness of multi-lingual capacity?

I can see that you hold the notion that once vernacular school system is eliminated, then the holy grail to national unity is achieved. Ok, so what about the Matrikulasi and STPM divide? And when it was suggested that Mara University to raise the 10% non-bumi quota, there was organized and protected demonstration?

Mr Lee, a language is a language. It can be taught in any types of school( including a national school) , not necessary to set up a school specifically for that language only. The one school system is meant to create more understanding amongst all races. What better way to do it, when the eat, play and study together ? It's objective is not meant to abolish other languages. BM is already the national language (spoken in all government departments) and it's a compulsory pass subject in all school system presently.
So why be afraid that BM will take over other languages ? This is what happens when the OBJECTIVE for the one school system is "hijacked" and turned into a political or a race issue. Can we put language aside and put UNDERSTANDING and AWARENESS amongst all race as the MAIN OBJECTIVE here ?

Vernacular schools are not set up to teach language only. It teaches about philosophy, way of life in addition to designated curriculum. I have already stated my stand that in a democracy, people should have freedom of choice.

"So why be afraid that BM will take over other languages ?"Most Malaysians now are comfortable in the national language so there is no fear about vernacular schools would undermine Bahasa Malaysia. The real threat to Bahasa Malaysia are those fellows who use “infomasi instead of maklumat”,operasi instead of gerakan”, “komunikasi instead of “perhubungan”, “aspirasi” instead of “cita-cita” or "tekad" etc.

If you stress, correctly, on understanding and awareness, then you should look at the cause of

1) Intelok
2) The decription of St Valentine’s Day as a Christian thingy
3) Name calling like “si sepet” and “si botol
4) The messages sent out by Utusan Malaysia nurturing the siege mentality
5) The contents of BTN indoctrination programmes

Enough said.

If our tourism flyer sells the country as multi-cultural, colourful and tolerant, our way of life and thinking should reflect that. We are living in a democratic country while freedom of choice is the greatest thing we should uphold. Our country will be a lot poorer without such diversity and togetherness.

I do not wish to convince the above commentator to change his/her mind too, for I agree to disagree.

Making a case for vernacular education in Malaysia

I am writing about a matter that is close to my heart and been unspoken for a long time, despite reading countless baseless allegations towards vernacular education system in Malaysia.

I studied for 6 years in SRJK(C ) and then a year in remove class before moving onto 5 years of SRP and SPM Syllabus, then another 2 years in STPM; finally 3 years in a United Kingdom base accountancy studies. I have had 6, 8 and 3 years in Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia and English medium of instruction environment respectively.

Over the years SRJK (C ) and SRJK (T) are accused by opportunists and stir agents as the reason for racial disharmony in Malaysia. These loudspeakers probably never studied in vernacular schools and never lived a day of their lives as a student in a vernacular schools, yet strangely see themselves qualified to slander and libel something that they are ill equipped to judge.

As far as I know, BTN’s racist slurs initiators, cow head protesters in Shah Alam, those 2 reporters who sneaked into churches and violated a prayer session probably did not hail from SRJK (C) or SRKJ (T). The current epicenter of communal rallying cry, Ibrahim Ali, surely did not emerge from any vernacular education system, albeit once feeding himself off Vincent Tan of Berjaya gaming fame.

I am proud of my SRJK(C) roots. I remember being taught to respect the environment, respect our elders and teachers, love our country and befriend with Ali, Fatimah, Muthu and Letchumy. I also remember singing the national anthem and state anthem plus the “Setia” song with gusto, believing there is no mother land except the one I was standing on, then and now.

There are many people who have emerged from vernacular school systems and have done the nation proud. Malaysian artists like Eric Moon, Angelica Lee (voted Asia’s best actress), Ah Niu (talented singer, composer and movie producer which "Kacang Merah Love Story" that received raved review in China), Michael Wong (great song writer, singer producer who have fans in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and mentored other Malaysian talents like Fish Leong), Victor Wong, Mohan (an Indian chap who sang in Hokkien and Mandarin so well that I heard he is making a living in China) and Tan Bee Keow (an Indian lass from Telok Intan who won a talent search contest in Singapore) and lately Jess Lee who overcame a host of international competitors to emerge as champion in a tough singing competition in Taiwan.

These people are creators of beautiful produce, not the ugly destroyers like their slanderous detractors, have made their names in Asia Pacific and proclaim themselves as Malaysians. They certainly present a better image of Malaysia then the likes of Ibrahim Ali, surely.

I do find myself sufficiently motivated to reply certain points written by this individual featured in Malaysia Today:

http://www.malaysia-today.net/mtcolumns/letterssurat/38031-john-mallots-wsj-article-a-response

John Mallot's WSJ Article: A Response

By Umar Mukhtar

…the national-vernacular dichotomy in the school system has resulted in precisely the kind of early-age racial segregation that the busing laws, upheld by the U.S. supreme court justices, sought to eradicate in America.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• as mentioned above, I testify that I was taught to love my country and my fellow countrymen regardless of race and creed; not to distance myself from them. I do not think Umar can produce even half a slice of proof that vernacular school teachers actively telling non-Malay students to be antagonistic to others.

if there is any divisive element, look no further that those race-base political parties that run controlled media like their political parties’ mouth piece and profiting from dealing in racial politics over 5 decades.

• the celebrity casts of Ibrahim Ali, BTN indoctrinators, Awang Selamat and the likes probably never studied in a vernacular school before

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The racial polarisation that we see so shamelessly capitalised on by politicians in Malaysia today is partly, if not wholly, attributable to that segregation in the school system. When you see not a few non-Malays unashamedly, even proudly, declaring that they cannot properly speak Malay, the national language, you can bet your life that these are the ones who graduated from the vernacular schools.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• I would like to know where in his hallucinations did Umar Mukhtar meet non-Malays who are proud of their language deficiency. Look, Chinese have strong survival instinct. If learning Bahasa Malaysia is necessary to cari makan in Malaysia, we will do whatever it takes to secure our rice bowl. My parents were civil servants schooled during the colonial times and both re-tooled themselves by studying Bahasa Malaysia to keep their jobs.

• If he failed to produce a proper identity of a culprit, he is guilty of libel and the credibility of his long article will crumble like a deck of cards

• When I got into secondary school, we fear getting a P7 in Bahasa Malaysia in SPM exam more than death itself. I had a friend who memorized kamus dewan, all of us took BM tuition classes and I read countless magazines (Dewan Masyarakat) and newspapers (after 3 days of puking over Utusan Malaysia, I took up Bacaria and loved the juicy writings- in case Umar asks, I scored an A1 in my SPM BM and included a pantun in my syarahan)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Chinese community jealously guard the existence of the vernacular schools,
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Chinese basing time and true colour emerging? In Chinese, we have a saying, “no matter how deprived we are, we shall never deprived our children of education”. That is why early immigrants escaping war, persecution, starvation and famine, despite having very little, proceeded to built schools and provide education for their off spring.

To guard these existence, is to value, salute, improve upon the sweat, sacrifice and contribution of our forefathers. Asia Values require us to respect and honour our elders, now what is wrong about preserving and improving upon their sacrifices?

• China’s 5,000 years of history and culture presents many valuable lessons. The Prophet Mohammed (Peace by upon him) mentioned that if seeking knowledge requires traveling even to China, so be it.

1Malaysia Prime Minister also taken up a famous Chinese proverb which came from a famous administrator of yore:

http://www.nst.com.my/articles/2beeann/Article//Article

"There is a Chinese saying, 'Xian tian xia zhi you er you, hou tian xia zhi le er le', (resolve the people's problems before they suffer difficulties). Bring joy to the people before everyone is able to live happily."

So is Najib dividing the nation by quoting lessons from Chinese education?

That proverb only inspire me; not make me feel like distancing myself from Ali, Muthu, Xavier or Gurmit. If the slandering non-thinkers think otherwise, it is no point beri bunga kepada kera.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Often the excuse given by the Chinese for insisting that their children go to vernacular schools and for more such schools to be built is the poor quality of national schools. Surely the solution is not to build more racially-segregated schools but to join hands with Malays and Indians in insisting and ensuring that the quality of national schools be improved for the benefit of children of all ethnicities.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Nowadays there are Malays sending their children to SRJK(C) because of the quality of the education there and the ability to speak and write Mandarin is an important skill in 21st century due to emergence of PRC. Even the Caucasians are at it.

• As for national schools, before we even talk about all races joining hands to improve their quality, issues involving Siti Inshah, Iskandar bin Fadeli , and the other guy in Kedah remained unresolved satisfactorily.

If the Deputy Prime Minister cum Education Minister dare not act against such agents of disharmony, how can we instill confidence in parents and students?

"Education minister has no power to act against officers, says Muhyiddin"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When a “Mandarin speakers only” requirement is stated in job advertisements, even for jobs which do not conceivably require much language skills, that surely is equivalent to saying “Chinese only”.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Nonsense, Mandarin Speaking is a skill set. “Bumiputra is encouraged to apply” statement definitely specify the correct race is a prerequisite but Mandarin Speakers only means people who can speak Mandarin.

If Mandarin speaking is required for operational reasons, for instance, liasing with investors, customers, suppliers and staff from China and Taiwan, it is reasonable for employers to hire communication skills. Again, Umar probably do not know the operational requirement of the position advertised and yet form such a general and slanderous comment.

It is really Katak Bawah Tempurung to disregard the importance of learning Chinese language and culture as the PRC, like it or not, is the key economic player in decades to come.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have yet to hear of any Chinese leader asking that the Chinese to join in and contribute towards the betterment of national schools.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
• We are already paying taxes that goes to national schools without problem

Vernacular schools do not have secured and stable source of funding hence required countless annual fund raising activities. This is the result of Malaysia’s political landscape; it is necessary for the Chinese community to spend more resource on preserving the vernacular schools as they are left to their own devices. Surely one cannot be denied the chance of self preservation?

• If anything, in DAP’s Economic Bureau’s alternative budget for 2010, DAP (happily slandered as “Chinese Party” by certain people) proposed RM250 million to secure public amenities for neglected primary and secondary schools, book vouchers amounting to RM160 million for household with income below RM1,000 among other initiatives to strengthen education sector of Malaysia.
