News resources report that Malaysia's inflation rate in February 2008 is 2.7% up 0.4% from the 2.4% in January 2008. The inflation rate, based on the consumer price index (CPI), rose mainly because of the rise in the food and non-alcoholic price index. The food and non-alcoholic price index accounts for about 53% of the CPI. Other indexes fueling the inflation is housing cost, water, electricity and fuels (up 1.4%) and transport costs (up 1%).
